How to be Together:
Kasia Redzisz and Professor Lala Meredith-Vula
Wednesday 17th November 2021, 2pm to 3pm, Online

Kasia Redzisz is a world leading Polish curator, museum director and art historian. From 2010 to 2015, she worked as an assistant curator at the Tate Modern. In 2014, she became senior curator of Tate Liverpool. She has recently been appointed artistic director of KANAL – Centre Pompidou. She was a curator at Warsaw’s Museum of Modern Art from 2005 to 2007, and the director of the Open Arts Project from 2008 to 2015. As an independent curator, she curated the inaugural exhibition ‘Women Looking at Men Looking at Women’ of Muzeum Susch in 2019.

She was recently the co-curator of the 4th Art Encounters Biennial, OUR OTHER US, in Timisoara, Romania. She will be discussing the Biennial with titles ‘How to be together’ where she also selected Professor Lala Meredith-Vula’s work. Kasia Redzisz summarises her concept for the Biennial as follows: “My proposal for the biennial consists of two exhibitions: a regional, historical survey investigating the relationship between artists and nature and its contemporary counterpart. I hope that, together, these shows will present proposals for meaningful coexistence in the world, not a simple critique of the present moment, but a stimulating reflection on our possible futures.”

“The concept of the exhibition is rooted in the city of Timisoara as an industrial, academic and artistic centre, home to diverse communities. Drawing inspiration from local neo-avant-garde practices, my proposal for the biennial looks at our relationship to nature and to each other. Invited participants explore notions of collectivity, social responsibility and sustainability in all aspects of artistic production and our lives.”
